What Keeps Us Moving Forward?
Roger had been talking about opening his own small design studio for years. He spent his evenings sketching ideas, learning new software, and working on projects for friends. To him, it felt like something worth pursuing, even though he wasn't entirely sure what it would become.
When he told people about his plans, their reactions were often similar.
“It's a risky move,” one friend said. “You already have a steady job. Why give that up for something so uncertain?”
Roger understood their concerns. He couldn't offer a clear timeline for success or explain exactly how the studio would grow. Some days, even he wondered whether he was being unrealistic.
Still, he kept working on his ideas. He took small freelance projects, improved his portfolio, and saved money whenever he could. Progress was slower than he had imagined, and there were moments when he questioned whether the effort would lead anywhere.
One evening, after finishing a project he was proud of, Roger realized that he had learned more in the past year than he had expected. He still didn't know where the studio would eventually take him, but he had become better at the work and more certain that he wanted to continue exploring it.
He decided not to wait until he could explain the entire plan before taking the next step.
A Question to Explore
Is there something you would like to pursue but hesitate to begin because others don't understand it or you cannot yet see exactly where it will lead?
