What Do Our Habits Say About Us?

Thomas often talked about the things he wanted to do. At family dinners, he described his plans to travel through South America. With friends, he spoke about starting his own business. He had also been considering moving to a smaller town, where he imagined having more time for himself.

People who knew Thomas were familiar with these plans. Occasionally, someone would ask how things were progressing.

He usually had an answer. He was still saving money for the trip. He wanted to research the business market a little more. He hadn't found the right time to look seriously at houses outside the city.

Months passed. His savings grew slowly, his research documents became more detailed, and his evenings continued much as before. He went to work, came home, met friends, and spent weekends doing familiar things.

At a birthday dinner, an old friend asked him about the business idea.

Thomas explained that he had found a few promising opportunities but wanted to look into them further before making a decision.

Someone passed him the bowl of salad, and the conversation moved on to another subject.
