What Does It Take to Build the Life You Want?
Betty got her first job at fifteen, babysitting children in her neighborhood. On weekends, she later began working at a local supermarket. Whenever she wanted something, she worked out how much it would cost and how long she would need to save before she could afford it.
As she grew older, she continued the habit. When she started thinking about buying a home, she began putting money aside and keeping track of her expenses. She researched the costs involved in buying a property and considered how much she would need beyond the mortgage itself.
When she finally bought her home, Betty paid the notary fees from her own savings. She had also set money aside for furniture and the other expenses that came with moving in.
After settling into the house, she reviewed her finances and began making plans for the next few years. She had several things she wanted to do, although she had not yet decided which would come first.
She opened a notebook, wrote down the things she had in mind, and placed it beside the household budget on her desk.
